The mushroom farm industry also extends to companies that provide services, equipment, supplies, technology, and transportation, many of which are located in New Garden Township.

Mushroom Farm Environmental Plan (MFEMP)

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection developed "Best Practices for Environmental Protection in the Mushroom Farm Community" which provides uniform operating procedures for the use and disposal of spent mushroom substrate (SMS). Additionally, each PA mushroom farm is required to have a Mushroom Farm Environmental Management Plan (MFEMP), which is part of the New Garden Township code for mushroom farms on how to maintain or improve the quality of soil and water in the community.
