Tip and hints for Snow Removal
The township public works department assists in all operations that concerns New Garden Township. The staff assists the Police Department when asked and needed. They assist the Sewer Department, and Administration Department when needed. The public works also assist in maintaining the Township Park and recreational necessities.
The township public works department has a compliment of five full time employees including the director. The department is responsible for maintaining sixty miles of roads. That requirement means that the staff sees that the snow plowing, signs, street right-of-way mowing, the township street drainage system with the entire pipe, inlets and outfalls within the right-of-way, and the highway or street maintenance work is performed in a professional manner. The department plays an active roll in the spring cleanup and hazardous waste collection the township holds for the residents of New Garden Township.
The township has thirty-four developments and fifty-four cul-de-sacs that the department maintains as well.

The Public Works Department keeps our roads clear of hazards such as fallen trees and limbs, debris, flooding from clogged storm drains and any other thing that might cause hazardous driving situation.

They are on the job when it snows and stay on the job until the snowstorm is over and the roads are clear. Many times they are out pushing snow and spreading salt and anti-skid for long long hours.
The Road Department also cuts grass and vegetation along the road banks. Overgrown vegetation can block the view of drivers at intersections and curves.
They also fill pot holes and tar and chip the roads. Tar and chip is a common maintenance procedure for secondary roads.
