New Garden Township Greenways Plan

New Garden Township, Chester County

SC#07089.10

For Immediate Release

The New Garden Township Open Space Review Board is in the process of developing a plan for a system of interconnected trails and greenways that will provide pedestrian and bicycle linkages between residential areas, regional trails, parks, open space and other destinations. This “Greenway” system will also identify opportunities to provide protection for environmentally sensitive areas.

A committee of Township residents is working with the consultant team of Simone Collins Landscape Architecture of Berwyn, PA and GTS Technologies of Harrisburg, PA to prepare the Greenway Plan. The project is partially funded by a grant from the Community Conservation Partnership Program administered by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), Bureau of Recreation and Conservation, and also a grant from the E. Kneale Dockstader Foundation, administered by SECCRA.

Public participation is considered a key element of the project. There will be five public meetings on the project. The first public meeting will take place on Tuesday, March 18th at 7:00 PM at the New Garden Township Building. Residents are urged to attend and to offer their input and ideas about the proposed Greenway system.
