About the Comprehensive Plan
The Comprehensive Plan is a policy document that guides the Township’s priorities on resource allocation (time, staff, and money) for the next ten years or more. The Plan’s framework is directed by the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code (MPC) and covers issues such as housing, open space, recreation, transportation, and land use. However, each Comprehensive Plan’s is unique in its emphasis and should reflect the priorities of each municipality.
Development of the New Garden Township Comprehensive Plan is guided by a 14-member Task Force comprised of members from the Board of Supervisors, Planning Commission, Open Space Review Board, Historic Commission, and the community at large. It is facilitated by the Township Planning Consultant, Thomas Comitta Associates, Inc. Town Planners & Landscape Architects; Brandywine Conservancy, and McMahon Associates. The cost of the Plan is supported in part by the Chester County Planning Commission.
