The compost bin program is sponsored by the Chester County Solid Waste Authority and hosted by New Garden Township.
The workshop is usually about 45 minute long
The presentation will be from a Chester County Certified Master Composter.
A short video presentation with handouts is followed by a question and answer session. After the presentation you will recieve your free compost bin.
Almost half of all waste dumped in the landfill is yard waste, (leaves sticks grass, etc.) The life expectancy of a landfill could be almost doubled from 20 to 40 years if everyone composted thier yard waste instead of throwing it in the trash. Landfills cost a lot of money to build and nobody wants a landfill in thier backyard and the cost for trash disposal is rising all the time. Help keep the cost of trash disposal down by composting your yardwaste (and recycling right) Almost 70% of everyting that is typically thrown in the trash can be recycled. |
Making compost will help you reduce pollution - cut down that landfill! Your plants will grow healthier and look happier for it. It will save you money on fertilisers too.
Compost is one of nature's best mulches and soil amendments, and you can use it instead of
commercial fertilizers. Best of all, compost is cheap
The number of bins are limited this year and will be on a first come first serve basis so please call the Township to register for workshop.
